New and exciting things!

Two-thousand and fourteen was a wild year and there are lots of amazing things on the horizon for us. We have grown exponentially and we are gearing up for continued growth. Firmly entrenched and in charge of local booking at the Fine Line Music Cafe we have also been purchasing more and more national talent for a plethora of events and venues. We are actively working in a number of music venues. Take a look at our venue tab for information on the venues we now have access to and continue to have regular access too. We have transitioned from specializing in representation to a full service music company with an emphasis on event planning and talent buying. We do offer a little of everything, management, booking representation and more. Stay tuned to the website for more frequent updates as the year progresses. Big things are coming.

The “Big Finish” to 2013

The back half of 2013 has been a very busy time for us here at McTerry Music as we took strides in an effort to, once again,  grab the attention of the local music scene. We have worked hard to build an impressive roster of bands that are stylistically variable and locally relevant.

As the calendar gets ready to turn over to 2014 you can expect some very big things from us in the new year. But before we are done with 2013 we have what we will call the “Big Finish”, with 5 shows in 14 days. We have shows on the 6th and 14th at the Driftwood Char Bar in Minneapolis, check the calendar for details. We also have what will be the final show of the year on December 20th at the Nether Bar. A holiday show not to be missed. Look for details on that  soon.

On December 13th the “Big Finish” is highlighted by the most important McTerry Music night to date. After 8 years in the scene we have never had anything quite like this. We will be hosting two CD release shows. One is for Bigtree Bonsai at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis as they celebrate the release of Awoken and the other is for The Usual Things at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in Saint Paul in celebration of their long awaited follow up to Middle Coast called Home Sweet Alone. These release shows are from two of the local scene’s best bands. Please take a minute to check out all the details for each show, and as a bonus we have a video from each band. Something to hold you over until the big night. Take a few minutes, pick the show you most want to go to and go out and get some tickets. Just click on the event banners for advanced sale links.

Large banner
Armed with their brand new single, Rollin’ Down The Road, available for purchase and listen on their Bandcamp and Soundcloud sites. Bigtree Bonsai are set to release their debut full length album.  Awoken will be released to the public on December 10th, 2013.

The album was recorded over seven whirlwind days at Pearl Recording Studios in Minneapolis with producer Jake Dilley (Color Pharmacy). Bigtree Bonsai then had the pleasure of working with recording engineer Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Joshua James) and mastering engineer Joe Lambert (Local Natives, The National), who added their unique talents to the project.

These final touches lifted the album to a new level entirely—and now, almost one full year later, Awoken is finally ready for the world.

Bigtree Bonsai will culminate the release with a not to be missed record release celebration Friday, December 13th at the Cedar Cultural Center. Bigtree Bonsai will headline the night with direct support from local up and comers The Color Pharmacy and Taj Raj. McTerry Music Presents

On Saturday November 9th, Minneapolis natives Throw the Fight, fresh off a 40 day run with Bullet For My Valentine and Black Veil Brides, will return home to great fan fare for a special Homecoming show at the Fine Line Music Cafe in downtown Minneapolis. Considered by many of their peers as the hardest working hard rock band in the Twin Cities, Throw the Fight has earned their success. Having recently signed to Bullet Tooth Records they have been touring non-stop. According to Throw The Fight  guitarist, Ryan Baustert, “It’s going to be great to end the tour in Minneapolis. After being on the road for nearly 2 months straight on the Hard Drive tour, we’re all going to be looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. We love playing at The Fine Line and the November 9th show has a killer lineup people aren’t going to want to miss.”

Throw The Fight released their latest album, the John Feldmann (Atreyu, The Used) produced, “What Doesn’t Kill Us,” via Bullet Tooth Records in June of 2012. The album’s debut landed the band a spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and continues the tradition of former acts from Minneapolis by delivering an authentic display of metal-edged, hard rock. The first single off the record, ‘Not So Hollywood,’ had significant airplay and spins on Music Choice, SiriusXM Octane, BBC, 93X and other rock stations across the country. Their second single, “One Step Away,” hits active rock radio this month. The band immediately followed up the release with their 4 track EP “The Vault,” in March 2013, which debuted on Billboard’s Top New Artist and Top Alternative Artist charts. Most recently, Throw The Fight has been touring in support of their latest releases with Nonpoint and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Music videos for “Not So Hollywood” and “Lights Out For Summer” have seen huge numbers on VEVO and other media outlets. Their music video for “One Step Away” will be premiering in September. Throw The Fight’s onstage force has been seen nationally with Avenged Sevenfold, Papa Roach, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Staind, 10 Years and Buckcherry – among others, as well as festivals such as The Vans Warped Tour & Taste of Chaos.

It is a testament to the success of the band and respect they have earned from their peers that in support, they will have two upcoming local hard rock acts releasing their much anticipated new records. Emergent will play as direct support in celebration of the release of their self titled debut album. A band on the rise, Emergent has opened for such national touring bands as Nonpoint and Chevelle. Also playing in support and releasing their long awaited self titled debut is the upcoming band, 7th Ascent. This female fronted four piece is on the verge and the new record is, in the words of drummer Evan Stueve, “A culmination of two years of writing that really makes sense to us as our musical life story. Our attempt to make a mark on the rock and roll landscape”. Opening the show is Minneapolis band And We Danced. Having toured with Motion City Soundtrack this summer they are excited to be part of this celebration of Minneapolis hard rock. Presented by McTerry Music and Marxman Productions.
